hello, goodbye again

the sun beamed today
and to think that
i almost forgot how it felt
to sit beneath its warmth
though i am forever reminded
that it will set again soon
that soon the sun will burst
with the colors of a raged fire
that’ll fade into a darkness
lit by the moon
— the world’s most constant goodbye
to experience a glimpse of heaven
and to watch it fade with every blink
to feel the hues rest against our cheeks
and the light vanish just beneath our feet
